Plea for people to help with carnival

MORE volunteers are needed to help behind the scenes at Pershore Carnival.
The carnival committee has seen a drop in numbers in recent months after several resignations, plus the death of councillor and volunteer Dave Shaw over Christmas.
Colin Shepherd, chairman of the committee, said: “We need more people to help.
Although we have a limited number of committee members we will make a big effort to do the carnival as we did last year.
“What we have is not only a lack of members but a lack of funds. Last year we had a fantastic evening do with hundreds of people. I would love to think we could do that this year but we are not sure yet.
“There are only nine of us on the committee this year. It would be great to have some younger people with different ideas. New members could help with the 2013 carnival as there is still three or four months until it takes place.”
The carnival is held on spring bank holiday Monday, May 27. The procession usually begins at about 1pm and there will be stalls and entertainment on Abbey Park.
