Flood risk subsiding in Worcestershire as levels fall

THE risk of flooding looks to be subsiding as water levels continue to fall.

The Environment Agency has removed a flood warning on the river Severn at Callow End and Kempsey, with a level of 5.28 metres and falling measured at Kempsey at 9am.

A peak of 5.81 metres occured overnight on Friday, while the level at Callow End was measured at 4.39 metres and falling after a peak of 4.53 metres occured at 5am yesterday. 

No flooding is expected at any other gauge locations, but a flood alert remains in place for Worcestershire.

The water level in Worcester was 3.61 metres and falling following a peak of 4 metres at 4am yesterday morning.

However, the floodgates in New Street and Waterside, Upton upon Severn, remain closed.

The river Avon also remains on flood alert in the county, with a falling level of 1.24 metres measured at Evesham - a peak of 2.52 metres occurred at 6am on Friday.

No warnings or alerts were in place for the river Teme.
