ORGANISERS of a run to raise money for the fight against diabetes are looking for people to take part.

Registration is now open for the Hampton Ferry Charity Race and Fun Run for Diabetes UK in Evesham on Saturday, March 23.

As well as a 5km run for over- 13s along the banks of the river Avon, there will be also be a two-kilometre fun run for all ages.

Diabetes is the fastest-growing health threat in the UK, with one person diagnosed with the condition every three minutes.

Raising sponsorship for Diabetes UK by taking part in the Evesham 5K will help support people who have, or are at risk of, developing diabetes, and their families, friends and carers.

There are more than 26,000 people diagnosed with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes in Worcestershire and an estimated 9,400 who have undiagnosed Type 2 diabetes.

Jo Oldfield, of Diabetes UK, said: “The Hampton Ferry Charity Race is a great family day that has successfully been raising funds for Diabetes UK over the last eight years.

“Without the dedication of all our fund-raisers we would not be able to carry out our vital work caring for, campaigning and connecting with people in the UK who are diagnosed with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.”

The event starts and finishes at Raphaels Restaurant.

The entry fee is £9, £10 on the day, or £5 for the Fun Run.

There is a prize for each category winner and medals for all race finishers.
