BUDDING astronauts at St Nicholas CE Middle School in Pinvin had an out-of-this-world experience when they swapped classrooms for the cosmos.
Youngsters in year 5 transformed the school into a space training centre on Thursday and invited parents and governors to join the fun.
The pupils held four workshops for their visitors on the themes of space exploration of the past and future, planet studies and alien inhabitants.
The project was part of their termly learning journey on space. Learning journeys incorporate all core curriculum elements of six subjects – history, geography, art, PSHE, music and languages.
Katie Whitehead, year 5 co-ordinator and space expert, said: “Learning journeys have proved to be an excellent way of engaging the children.
“This space theme has made them motivated to use a wide range of skills, including literacy and numeracy, art, design, ICT and team-working.”
