BUFFET: Some of the ladies serving food at Peopleton
MORE than 100 people helped to raise £1,780 towards providing electricity for a hospital in Malawi when they took part in a charity event in Peopleton.
The evening of entertainment organised by Pershore Rotary and Inner Wheel clubs was held at Peopleton Village Hall and raised cash for the African Steps charity.
All the proceeds will go towards providing solar energy at St Peter’s Hospital on Likoma Island in Malawi, as there is usually no power at the facility.
Judith Gath, president of Pershore Rotary Club, said: “It was a brilliant evening. I am sure everybody really enjoyed it as it was a lot of fun.
Belle Joue, a string quartet, played some lovely music and showed what talented musicians they are.”
