Bands in battle to raise cash for cancer charity: tickets on sale now
A MUSICIAN who has battled cancer is hitting all the right notes to raise funds for a cancer charity.
Chris Hunter from Drakes Broughton, Mr Evesham, has enlisted the support of two bands, ‘Mines a Pint’ from Worcester and ‘The Throwbacks’ from Croydon. Both bands will appear on stage at Drakes Broughton Village Hall this Saturday for a 60s,70s and 80s night which will feature the music of the Beatles, Rolling Stones and many more. The event is in aid of ‘The Tracy Sollis Leukaemia Trust’ of which Mr Hunter has a special involvement.
He developed lymphoma in 2008 and undertook a course of chemotherapy at Worcestershire Royal Hospital in Worcester followed by a bone marrow transplant at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. It was while at Worcestershire Royal Hospital that he became aware that medical equipment had been purchased by the Trust. Following his return to health, he contacted the Trust and his involvement has since evolved with him now being an active member of the trustee board.
Mr Hunter was the bass player with ‘The Throwbacks’ which were formed back in 1984 before moving up to Worcestershire in 2004. He then went on to form ‘Mines a Pint’ together with band member Fred Chevalier (lead guitar). Tickets cost £10 and are available form The Tracy Sollis Leukaemia Trust Charity Shop, Library Arcade, 62 High Street, Evesham (01386) 421424 or available on the door for £12.50.
