MARKS & Spencer Simply Food will open a new store in Evesham this Autumn.

The major retailer is making a return to the town at the Evesham Retail Park on Worcester Road on the outskirts of the town. It previously had a store in the town centre at the Riverside Shopping Centre but closed it down four years ago saying the location was not right.

This afternoon members of Wychavon District Council's planning committee voted to approve the application with 12 votes in favour, one against and one abstention.

With ample FREE parking right outside, yet another reason to not go into Evesham town centre. Most of the major retail brands have relocated to the edge of the town now: Argos, Next, Boots, Curry’s etc and now M&S. Why does the Town Council allow such retail parks to be built when there are empty units in the town centre?
