New principal at South Worcestershire College

SOUTH Worcestershire College has welcomed a new principal.

Viv Gillespie has taken over the role as interim principal following the departure of Michael O’Brien last month (jan) after four years.

The mum of five, who has most recently been the interim principal at Northumberland College, said: “I am delighted. The college is local to me and I know the area well, having lived in Worcestershire and the Midlands for many years.

“Whilst there will be a strong focus on developing teaching and learning excellence and its management, I am keen to keep the College moving forward and so will be working to ensure that South Worcestershire College develops in a way that is relevant to local and regional needs by refreshing our offer.”

Bryan McGinity, the chair of governors at South Worcestershire College, said he was pleased she had joined the College’s Executive Team at an exciting time preparing to take the College forward.

Mr McGinity also wished former Mr O’Brien all the best in the future: “We wish him and his family well in their future plans.”
