We want your wackiest ideas for future of town
A GROUP of people striving to create a vision for Evesham’s future hope everyone in the town will step up with their own ideas – however wacky.
At a meeting later this month, the team behind Evesham’s town plan want to gather a variety of suggestions on how to make the town a better place to live, work and visit.
Patrick Staines, chairman of the steering group, said: “We want to gather a huge amount of ideas, aspirations and visions for the town and create a plan of how to get there. Lots of people in our community do great things every day so if we get those people together we can change Evesham.”
The plan will focus on young people, leisure and sport, tourism, economy, environment, transport, health and well being, housing, community support and the town centre, and will map out the future of Evesham, detailing targets over the next five, 10 and 20 years.
“There will be lots of ideas that may seem wacky now but in 20 years we might get there,” added Mr Staines.
“The idea is to make Evesham a better, more enjoyable and attractive place for those living and working here, as well as for visitors to the area.”
The group hopes to present the plan to the council by March next year but Mr Staines thinks by then, some of the projects will have already begun.
“It would be nice to think that a lot would have already happened by the time we get the plan together.”
It is hoped once the plan is completed it will be adopted as an official council document by the town council, which this week voted to support the group by allocating it £500 towards costs.
The public meeting will be held at the town hall on Wednesday, March 20, from 7pm. For more details, visit eveshamourfuture.co.uk.
