A WOMAN alerted a neighbour to a burglary in Rainbow Hill after spotting a man leave a house carrying a television.

The neighbour contacted police after the woman said she saw the man taking the television from a home in Terrace Walk.

Two televisions were taken after thieves broke into the home at just after midday on Thursday.

They forced open a wooden gate from the alleyway at the side of the property and then broke through a rear door.

Detectives are now trying to trace the woman who is a key witness and may have vital information about the identity of those who carried out the burglary.

She was described as white, eastern European, around 5ft 6ins tall and wearing a grey woolly hat and a grey mackintosh.

Another witness also saw a man carrying a television at the junction of Rainbow Hill and Tunnel Hill, walking in the direction of the Chequers Pub.

He was described as white, aged in his late 20s, of average build, with short dark hair.

He was wearing dark blue jeans and a navy blue Adidas zip-up top, which was fully zipped up to the neck.

PC Verity Farr, from the Worcester Proactive Team, said: “It is important we speak to the woman who witnesses the offence taking place and has yet to contact the police.

“If anyone knows who she might be I urge them to get in touch or encourage her to contact West Mercia Police.

“I would also like to appeal for any other witnesses to this offence to come forward, not least anyone else who saw this man walking along Rainbow Hill with a TV or who knows who this man is.”

PC Farr can be contacted via the non-emergency police number 101 or information can be passed on anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
