PERSHORE College has agreed a partnership with a leading Russian academy after a deal was struck during a visit from a trade delegation.

Visitors from Bryansk State Agricultural Academy enjoyed a tour of the college on Friday alongside Pershore MP Harriett Baldwin.

John Rees, deputy principal, said: “We are really excited the delegation has decided to visit the college and look forward to using the opportunity to create sustainable partnerships and growth opportunities for both parties in the future.”

Speaking at the college, Alexander Kasatskiy, deputy governor of the Bryansk region, said: “We love Worcestershire, it is really beautiful here.”

Mrs Baldwin said: “We set out to show Worcestershire is open for business and I think we have delivered some positive results.

“The Russians came looking to do business and I am pleased they were able to have discussions about a number of ways we can trade collaboratively.

“And to top it all, Bryansk Agricultural Academy has agreed a plan to work with Pershore College including academic exchanges. A football match was also suggested.”

The trip also included a civic reception at Wychavon District Council and to inspect asparagus crops in Birlingham.

In a speech at the council chamber visit, Vladimir Derbenskiy of the Russian Embassy said: “We had high expectations of coming to the area but we have exceeded our expectations.”
