BIKERS will be carrying an unusual load through the Vale next month.

Around 30 members of Evesham’s Motorcycle Action Group and other bikers from the area are joining together to support Dogs Trust, Wickhamford.

On Saturday, May 25, they will be using their motorcycles to transport dog and cat food, as well as blankets and toys, to the charity at Pitchers Hill, near Evesham.

The Pet Food Run was the brainchild of biker Mike Starking, who lives in Honeybourne. He said many of the group’s members have rescue dogs and they wanted to recognise the hard work done by the charity.

“I have had dogs for years and we have a rescue dog, although not from Dogs Trust,” he said. “She was living in the footwell of a car for the first six months of her life before we took her.

“Other members have got dogs from the Dogs Trust and they are such a good bunch. On the Saturday we will all meet at the Moat House in Alcester and ride to the Dogs Trust. They are delighted with what we are doing.

“We have no idea at the moment how much we will get. If it gets too much we will get a trailer or a car to follow us.

We have got a few boxes already.”
