Emotional golf event for Sue

GOLFERS took to the tees in an emotional memorial match for a well-known Pershore sportswoman.
Friends and family gathered for the inaugural Sue Sheppard Memorial Trophy event at the Evesham Golf Club last month and raised more than £2,500 for Macmillan and pancreatic cancer charities.
Roy Amphlett, the brother of Mrs Sheppard, who died of pancreatic cancer in August, aged 51, said while the day was emotional it was also fantastic to see so many supporters.
“It couldn’t have gone better,” he said.
“The three of us brothers were there as was her son, Jack, and Sue’s mum and dad came in the evening.
“Her husband Neil presented the trophy and Nicki, her daughter, also helped out.
“Sue would have loved it. It was a bit of a lumpy throat moment. We raised a glass to everyone affected by some form of cancer.”
The trophy was won by Pershore businessman Kevin Lloyd and his team.
The event was organised by Pershore Golf Society, of which Mrs Sheppard’s husband Neil Sheppard and brothers Roy, Paul and Dennis were founding members, and all are hoping to hold it again next year.
