Children spun traveller’s yarn
6:00pm Tuesday 20th August 2013 in News
CHILDREN at a Vale school were told some tall tales when they were visited by a Romany storyteller.
Cleeve Prior First School welcomed Richard O’Neill and the youngsters listened as he spun them a traditional traveller yarn.
He began by telling his stories to the entire school before grouping the children by age. One class heard a story about Bob, his barge and his pegs before Mr O’Neill revealed his own handmade wooden pegs, each decorated in a different way.
The children enjoyed guessing what each of the pegs represented, with some made to look like animals.
