Raffle being drawn tomorrow
THE Royal British Legion raffle will be drawn on Saturday at St Ecgwins Club in Evesham High Street at 7pm.
There will be a host of prizes to be drawn by the Mayor of Evesham, Councillor Mark Goodge with the main prize being a television donated by Tesco in support of the visit to Normandy in 2014, for the 70th Anniversary of D Day.
The raffle is hoping to raise some of the money needed to fund a trip to Normandy for the 70th anniversary.
The RBL were unable to secure a grant to fund the trip and without support and about £10,000 will not be going to France.
Jeff King, chairman of the Evesham branch of the RBL, said: "We feel it is of the utmost importance that the younger generation can be made aware by first hand experience to see the atrocities and loss of life that war brings about, by visiting the Normandy Beaches, cemeteries and museums.
"They are our future and the more we can educate them on these matters the better, to help reduce the possibility of any future conflicts such as those of WW1 and 2."
Anyone who would like to support the trip should contact Mr King on Nosmo2allardene@aol.com.
