AN Evesham man and his son will be hoping to raise a few laughs and more than a few pounds at a charity concert on Sunday in aid of the Abbey Bell Tower.
Colin Fisher and his son Matthew will be taking to the stage alongside other acts at the event, which they set up after reading about the Journal’s fund-raising campaign. Our Abbey Bell Tower appeal is seeking to raise £500,000 to carry out essential repair and conservation work on the 16th century landmark building.
The pair have been working hard to prepare for the gig but Colin says it will all be worth it if they can get a large amount of money for the campaign.
“It is shaping up great, all we need is people to come down on the day,” said the entertainer, who has appeared on British X Factor in front of Simon Cowell and also made it through to the final rounds of the show in Spain. There will be groups and singers there on the day performing alongside Matthew and me.
“One group is Maxed Out, they are a boy band from Sedgeberrow. We also have Linda Whitaker, who is an opera singer.
The event starts at 2pm in Market Square. “It is going to be a fantastic day,” he said. “I felt it was important to do something for the bell tower because it is the biggest building in Evesham.”
Anyone who would like to donate to the raffle and auction should contact Colin on 07526172241.
