Worcester Warriors bus catches fire on M5
WORCESTER Warriors players escaped injury after their team bus caught fire while it travelling was on the M5.
It happened at about 10am this morning as the team were travelling southbound between junction 14 and 15 near the Almondsbury Interchange.
The team were on their way to a pre-season friendly against Ospreys, in Swansea.
Pictures show flames coming from the back of the bus but it is not known how it was started.
A club spokesman said: "Everyone is fine. No one's injured. They are still playing the game, it's still going ahead."
The team were picked up by a replacement bus which would take them to the match which is now starting at 4.30pm.
Saturday's contest was the club's final warm-up before their Aviva Premiership campaign starts with a match at Leicester on September 8.
Three crews from Avon Fire & Rescue attended the blaze along with two pumps from Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service.
A spokesman said crews used four hose reels to control the blaze.
There are currently delays of 50 minutes on the M5 southbound between junctions J14 to J15 and lane one remains closed , according to a Highways Agency spokesman.
