A SPOOKY fund-raiser will be haunting Bredon Hill with ghosts and ghouls going bump in the night.
Shelley Morgan, aged 33, and Chrissy Barnes, 40, from Elmley Castle, have organised a Halloween themed charity fun run which will also help them in preparation for next year’s London Marathon.
Fund-raising for Cancer Research UK in memory of Mrs Morgan’s father Eric Summerton, who died of cancer in 2010, the mums on the run are looking to raise money through the 10k ‘Monster Dash’.
“Our minimum target is to raise £1,000 but of course we’d love to raise more.” said Mrs Morgan. “We want to get 200 runners.”
Children will also be getting into the spirit of things by helping to spook runners as they tackle the course.
The Monster Dash is a circular route across Bredon Hill which will begin and end at Elmley Castle Village Hall with a celebratory Halloween-themed fair rounding off the day.
Mrs Barnes has stressed the poignancy of the fund-raiser due to the number of cancer sufferers in the village.
“It’s frightening,” she said. “So many mums have been affected.
It makes our run even more special as we know the money we raise is going to benefit people we know.”
The event on Sunday, October 27, is open to all with a £10 entry donation.
“It’s quite a challenging course as it’s off-road so there’s a lot of rocky and hilly terrain,” said Mrs Morgan.
“I’m sure it’s going to be a lot of fun and it’s all for a good cause”.
