Council oppose housing proposal
7:00pm Thursday 5th September 2013 in News
PLANS for 260 new homes in Pershore have been opposed by the town council’s planning committee.
Proposals from Welbeck Strategic Land LLP Landowners for homes to the west of Station Road were discussed on Tuesday.
Councillors said access to the site did not support the future development of the northern link road – a project which would see a new road built to the north of the town, by-passing the Pinvin Road crossroads.
Councillor Tony Rowley said access to the site from Station Road should include new traffic lights or a roundabout to allow the main flow of traffic out of town to eventually be directed up Wyre Road after the installation of the northern link.
Coun Chris Parsons said he hoped the highways department would consider the area as a whole, as a further 340 homes are set to built in the vicinity.
