Man urinated in public
2:20pm Sunday 8th September 2013 in News
A DRUNKEN man urinated in front of women and children at a motorway services then spat on a manager and called him “gay” when challenged, a court heard.
Michael Kelly urinated outside the women’s toilets at Strensham Services, then offered to mop it up.
Kelly, aged 46, of Stapleton Road, Easton, Bristol, admitted common assault and being drunk and disorderly in public following the incident on August 9.
Lesley Ashton, prosecuting, said Kelly was challenged by Quintin Speers, the site director who said: “Stop what you’re doing and put it away.” Kelly replied: “I’m desperate.”
Police were called and Mr Speers continued to follow Kelly, who said: “What are you doing? Are you gay?
Kelly pushed his forehead into that of Mr Speers who told police: “He spat in my face without warning. I felt disgusted and upset by it.”
Andrew Ray, defending, said: “He has a list of previous convictions. Drinking is a key problem. He’s extremely apologetic for what happened.”
Magistrates gave him an electronically tagged daily curfew between 10pm and 8.30am, ordered him to pay £250 compensation to his victim and fined him £100 for being drunk and disorderly.
He was also ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge.
