Library looks forward to a brand new chapter
7:30am Friday 13th September 2013 in News
PERSHORE will be without a library service for one week as books are moved back into the newly refurbished building in Church Street.
The library has been operating from Pershore Town Hall while the building in the town centre was upgraded and extended.
The move will take place from Monday, September 23, with the library re-opening on Tuesday, October 1, at 9am. Kathy Kirk, libraries and learning manager at Worcestershire County Council, said: “It has been very rewarding working in partnership with Pershore Town Council which has worked very hard to extend and refurbish the old library and we are very excited to be moving back in.
“We will continue to deliver a high-quality library service but the new premises will offer better facilities with more space for adult learning and children’s activities, as well as the unique integrated visitor information service.”
Ann Dobbins, clerk at Pershore Town Council, said: “The new building has been extended to provide not only a library and visitor information centre but a true community building. There will be an opportunity, before the formal opening of the library, for residents to come and see what has been achieved.
“Further details of exact dates for this will be published later this month. This has been a unique and exciting project and we have enjoyed working with the county council to bring it to fruition.”
