Woman has lucky escape after B4077 crash near Winchcombe
A DRIVER had a lucky escape after their car left the road and ended up in the hedge on a sharp bend near Winchcombe.
Emergency services were called about 10.10am today to the B4077 Stanway Hill, Stanway, near Toddington, after a blue Honda Jazz left the road and rolled on its side in a hedgerow.
The car attracted the attention of passing drivers including Jan Long, of Bromsberrow Heath , near Ledbury, who stopped in a layby to help as she was travelling back from Shipston.
“It’s a very dangerous road, full of bends,” she said. “My first thought was, what if someone’s hurt?
“I returned to the layby to enlist the help of the lorry driver who had stopped for a break. He was rather taken aback as he hadn't seen the car, but came back with me.
“The exhaust pipe was cold and he could see that there wasn't anyone in the vehicle, so whoever the driver was, must have been ok to climb out of the car passenger door.
“Another car pulled up and a man joined us - he had a mobile and said he would alert the police. People are very happy to helf if they see somebody is in trouble and that’s great.”
The driver, a woman from Redditch, was treated at the scene by paramedics for a minor wrist injury before arranging for her car to be recovered.
