YOUNG musicians and mathematicians at Bredon Hill Middle School will be able to hone their talents in a new state of the art facility named after a school stalwart.
The Wilson Suite, named after long-serving former staff member Jane Wilson, was officially opened on October 2 by headteacher Steve Charlton.
It is a brand new building with three maths classrooms, a music suite, meeting room and small library.
Speaking at the opening, Mrs Wilson, who worked in the school office for 26 years, said she was delighted.
“Steve came into the office and asked me what I thought about it,” she said. “I was overwhelmed.
I am very honoured and delighted that they are calling it the Wilson Suite.”
Mr Charlton added that Mrs Wilson was the first former employee to have a building named after her in the school’s history. He said: “As the first place to be named after someone it makes it all the more special.
Mrs Wilson was very much the front of house and the first impression people had of the school. She was with us for 26 years and lives in the village, she is a bit of local celebrity. She was a massive part of Bredon Hill Middle School and we thought it would be nice to name the building after her.
“Before it was opened the children were having to do their maths classes in outside temporary classrooms. Now they have a fantastic setting.”
