A TEAM of four from Martin and Carr Vets in Pershore raised hundreds of pounds for animals around the world when they took part in the Vet Charity Challenge.

The event saw 55 teams from veterinary surgeries around the country descend on Pershore Horticultural College and Bredon Hill, where the orienteering challenge took place.

The groups were then sent off on the course, which saw them run or walk, mountain bike and kayak more than 40km.

Amy Blackwell, a vet at the surgery, nominated her four colleagues, Tom Carr, Alison Carr, Eliza Collins and Emma Faizey, to take part.

She said: “I entered them for it. The challenge was six-and-a-half hours of orienteering around Bredon Hill. There were checkpoints where they had to register electronically.

“The team came 9th out of 55 teams. They were chuffed with that. They enjoyed it but they were pretty tired by the end.”

The team raised £400 for the three animal charities they were supporting: SPANA, a charity which tackles the suffering of working animals, Animals Asia and Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
