POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a burglary in Rock, near Bewdley, in which two shotguns and ammunition were stolen.

It happened in Bliss Gate between around 12.10am and 6.20am on Thursday, November 21.

While the occupants were asleep, the offenders had removed a bathroom window to get in, and took two shotguns from a locked gun cabinet.

Both are described as 12 gauge over and under weapons. One was a Baikal worth £250 and the other a Miroku worth £1,350.

The offenders also took around 100 cartridges and a .22 air rifle with sights and light coloured stock.

Detective Inspector John Cashion of West Mercia Police said: “It appears the offenders knew what they were looking for. They may try to sell the firearms to a specialist dealer but we are obviously concerned they could be highly dangerous if they fall into the wrong hands.

“The burglary happened in the early hours of the morning in a rural area, and we are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious to contact us. We would also like to hear from anyone who has been offered the chance to buy weapons of this description, or anyone who knows where they are now.”

Police can be contacted on the non-emergency number 101 quoting incident 44-s-211113 or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
