A SPATE of burglaries in Evesham has moved police to ask people to help them crackdown on suspicious behaviour in the area.

Three people had already been arrested in connection with burglaries in the town and surrounding area, two of which have been charged, since Monday, November 11, but as the number continues to grow, there are more offenders to catch.

The latest burglaries occurred on Wednesday, November 20. A house in Hamilton Road was broken into through patio doors between 8.20am and 6.25pm and a Samsung Galaxy tab, worth around £300, was stolen from the living room.

The second incident happened at a property on Drysdale Close, Wickhamford.

It was burgled between 4.45pm and 8.30pm and a large amount of cash, jewellery and a television were taken after the property was broken into through the front door.

Detective Chief Inspector Stacey Williamson said: “We are doing all we can to tackle this burglary spate in the Evesham area and in the last 10 days, we have arrested three people in connection with a number of those burglaries.

“Two of those have since been charged and another remains in police custody.

We are now looking for more suspects and we really need the public’s help to find them.”

To keep homes and residents safer during the winter months, police are reminding people of their Darker Nights campaign, which advises people to set a timer switch to turn lights on, lock doors, patios and windows and ensure burglar alarms are set.

Det Chf Insp Williamson added that the public should report anyone or any vehicle acting suspiciously, especially if they are not local or have not been seen before.

“One call could really make a difference. It might be all it takes to bring an end to this burglary series,” she said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on the non-emergency number 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
