A DRIVER pulled over for having only one headlight working was found to be over the drink-drive limit.

Police stopped Zydrunas Pinkevicius, of Broadway Road, Evesham, while he was driving down Port Street at 11pm on Friday, December 13. Kerry Lovegrove, prosecuting, said police believed the driver had been drinking when they stopped him.

She said a roadside breath test was carried out and he was found to have 75mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, more than twice the allowed limit of 35mcg.

In mitigation, David Ollivere said the 40-year-old Lithuanian, who has been in the country for nine years, had been drinking at home when he decided to go and buy more alcohol.

At the hearing at Worcester Magistrates Court, District Judge Nigel Cadbury banned him from driving for 20 months with the option to undertake a drink-drive course which would reduce it by 20 weeks. He also imposed a £220 fine, £85 in court costs and a £22 victim surcharge.
