LEAGUE tables showing how well Malvern schools did in GCSEs and A-levels have been released.

Top among Malvern's schools was Malvern College where 93 per cent of pupils achieved the five A*C with English and maths standard, seeing the school ranked fourth within Worcestershire.

However, the school was first in Worcestershire for its A-level results with pupils achieving an average points score of 1046.6 with an average point score per academic entry of 222.1.

Also celebrating was The Chase which ranked seventh in Worcestershire for its A-level results and was the most highly ranked state school according to its average point score per entry.

Pupils achieved an average points score of 884.8 with an average point score per academic entry of 219.1

Head Richard Jacobs said: “Everyone at The Chase is very proud of the fact that not only did we secure the best A Level results in Worcestershire within the state sector but that we matched and even bettered those of our highly esteemed partners in the independent sector.

"It brings us great comfort to see so many of our sixth formers able to go on to even the highest ranked of Universities.

"They have continued a journey begun by the many excellent primary schools in the Malvern area and its as much their credit as ours.”

62 per cent of The Chase's GCSE pupils achieved five A*-C grades with English and maths.

However, only 41 per cent of Dyson Perrins CofE Sports College's pupils achieved the five A*-C GCSE grades with English and maths only just over the government's basic standard of no fewer than 40 per cent achieving the standard.

The school was ranked 32nd for A-levels with pupils reaching an average points score of 631.4 with an average point score per academic entry of 186.0

Queen Elizabeth Humanities College, in Bromyard, was second in Herefordshire for GCSEs with 80 per cent of pupils achieving five A*-C grades including English and maths.

68 per cent of pupils from John Masefield High School, Ledbury, achieved the same, while A-level pupils achieved a points score of 693.0 with an average point score per academic entry of 210.3.
