DRAGONS, pythons and pygmy hedgehogs were just some of the animals that were shown off at a meeting of the Exotic Animals Club in Badsey this weekend.

The group, which was set up earlier last year has recently relocated to the recreation ground in Badsey and on Sunday the Cricket Club hosted its second meeting.

Arran Churchill, who owns four bearded dragons, three corn snakes and an African house snake said the meeting was a great success.

"There were 60 or 70 people that came along on the day," he said. "It was decided to start the club because there was a group of people who love reptiles."

At the latest meeting the animals brought along included, bearded dragons, corn snakes, tortoises, burmese pythons, reticulated pythons, carpet pythons, hognose snake, king snakes and African pygmy hedgehogs.

"Ultimately we are hoping to make enough money to donate to an animal welfare charity," Mr Churchill added. "We welcome the public to come to our meetings to get real hands on experience with animals they may not normally see, let alone hold or interact with."

Starchip Enterprise, a food sellers, also attend each meeting between 1pm until 3pm.

The next meeting will take place on Sunday, March 2, from 1pm until 5pm, at the Badsey Cricket Club.
