A FORMER Evesham teacher celebrated becoming a centenarian with a gathering of her family.
Julie Williams marked her 100th year on January 24 in Sheffield where she now lives to be closer to her daughter.
But she will be well known to many Evesham people after teaching at many of the town's schools.
Mrs Williams, who was born in Cudworth during the first year of World War One, moved to the Vale in 1940 after marrying her husband Bill.
The pair both became teachers with Mrs Williams working at Swan Lane, Merstow Green, Badsey and Blackminster schools before her retirement and her husband staying with Blackminster schools after serving with the army until 1945.
The couple lived in Lichfield Avenue from 1951 and were married for 63 years before Mr Williams died in 2003.
