TWO best friends from Bretforton have been celebrating after their bundles of joy were born on the same day.

It was tears of happiness all round the Vale village when both Fiona Gibson and friend of ten years Natalie Wood gave birth to two girls on the same date.

And the excitement didn't end there as the date was no ordinary one with the baby girls being born on 14.1.14.

Mrs Gibson, of Main Street, Bretforton, said: "We knew we were both expecting but Natalie was due on January 3 and I was due on January 19, so a good few weeks apart.

"But Natalie was late and ended up going in for an emergency caesarean on January 13 but didn't give birth until1.15am the next day and I had booked my caesarean for noon on January 14.

"I chose the date, as its 14.1.14 but Natalie beat me to it."

Despite all this there are still more similarities about the two girls as even their names sounds alike.

Natalie and partner Jon Parkinson's baby is called Enya and Fiona and husband Nick's girl is name Xenia.

The friends are now sure their daughters will be close.

"I was convinced I was having a boy so I didn't think we would get the similar names," said Mrs Gibson. "But now they are like the Bretforton twins. It's bizarre when they were due apart and I kept saying, don't pinch my date."

While the best friends still live in the same village they used to live even closer.

"We both lived in Drinkwater Lane, that's how we met," said Mrs Gibson. "We were just two houses apart. Natalie still lives there, I now live in Main Street.

"We were even close after giving birth as we ended up opposite each other in the hospital ward.

"It's nice to have each other for support."
