THE wonders of the coast have come to landlocked Worcester.

Stunning landscapes and seascapes from the St Ives colony of artists prior to 1914 have been put on display in the Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum in an exhibition entitled Song of the Sea.

Idealistic land and seascapes from artists including Adrian Stokes, John Arnesby Brown and Julius Olsson that captured the poetic nature of the sea will be on show in the Foregate Street attraction until Saturday, April 26.

Philippa Tinsley, senior curator for Museums Worcestershire, said: "We are so pleased to be hosting this beautiful exhibition at the art gallery and museum.

"Worcester has an outstanding historic and contemporary landscape collection so it makes sense for us to show these stunning land and seascapes."

Starting on March 4, visitors to the exhibition can find out about sea related objects from the museum's collections at 3pm on the first Tuesday of each month.

The exhibition's curator, David Tovery, will give a talk on Wednesday, March 12 on Master and Pupils: The St Ives Schools of Landscape and Marine Painting from 4pm.

The gallery is open Monday to Saturday from 10.30am to 4.30pm.
