Carnival fundraiser is great success

HUNDREDS of pounds were raised by quiz goers at a fundraising event in Pershore in memory of town Stalwart Dave Shaw.

The fun night was held at Pershore Sports and Social Club in aid of Pershore Carnival on Friday.

On the night £288 was raised with another £50 was promised by Newlands Fishbar, as carnival committee chairman Colin Shepherd wore their shirt for the evening.

Liz Hackett-Smith, carnival secretary, said: "The quiz proved to be very popular and at least 16 teams took part, totally filling the venue.

"Equally popular was the half time game of heads and tails."

Next month, Saturday, March 8, a race night is set to take place at Pershore Football Club.

Entry is £2 and programmes can be bought in advance from the Visitor Information at Pershore Library.
