FROM sailing to rock climbing - the sheer amount of activities on offer has seen Evesham Sea Cadets labelled simply the best.

Evesham Cadets has beat units from Coventry to Cornwall to win the coveted Stephenson Trophy for being the best sea cadets in the south west of Britain.

Judging is based on a number of aspects including sports achievements, competition wins, activities and fundraising.

Training Ship Explorer , landlocked at South Littleton, is a berth for more than 80 cadets and 45 volunteer staff.

Commander Clive Smith said: "TS Explorer is unquestionably a shining example to other units throughout the Corps and has rightly earned its place in the top echelon of all units."

Evesham Sea Cadets meet on Monday and Thursday from 7pm to 9.30pm at the headquarters in Shinehill Lane, South Littleton, Evesham.

New recruits between the ages of 10 and 18 are welcome.

A Marine Cadet Detachment has also been formed and the unit is looking for adults to train as instructors and young people who may wish to join.
