DO you recognise this canoe which was believed to have been swept away by floodwaters?

The 20 foot long white Laser canoe was discovered on the bank of the river Severn near to Cafe Loco on The Quay, Grandstand Road on Saturday night (February 8).

Mike Fernandes, the owner of Northwick Marina, managed to rescue the boat and is now hoping to reunite it with its owner.

He has been in touch with the police and contacted various canoe clubs in a bid to trace who it belongs to but has so far not had any luck.

Mr Fernandes said: "It had washed up near to the cafe and Sabrina Bridge and I could see some kids were trying to push it back into the river .

"If they had managed to get it onto the river it would have gotten wedged under the main bridge so I loaded it up on my four by four and took it to the marina.

Mr Fernandes took over the running of Northwick Marina, off Neweys Hill, in January having stored his boat there for many years.

Having spent a lot of time on the river Severn, the canoe is by no means the most unusual thing he has seen floating by during various floods.

"I've seen wheelie bins and garden furniture go down the Severn, even a hot tub and a dead horse and cart."
