A FARM shop and tea room near Evesham will be flipping pancakes for charity at a special event for Shrove Tuesday.

Wayside Farm shop and tearoom, in Pitchers Hill, Wickhamford, is hosting a fundraiser and awareness day for Maggie's Centres, which provide support for people and their families with cancer.

The event is being held on Tuesday, March 4 - Pancake Day - from 10am to 4.30pm and customers will be able to see their pancakes flipped and served in front of them in the tearoom with part of the proceeds being donated to the charity.

People will also be able to make donations in collection boxes.

Farmshop owner Elspeth Robertson, who lost her long-term partner Fin to cancer last year, said she was keen to raise awareness of the charity's work which supported her at the centre in Cheltenham.

"They really do give support in all different ways to people with cancer and their families," she said. "It's one of the best facilities from a charity, they are completely in tune with the effects of the illness and they give amazing support to people.

"They are building centres attached to as many Oncology departments as they can. It's a very up and coming charity."

Similar fundraisers will also take place on the day in Tewkesbury in what organisers hope to be a three counties event.
