A NEW charity shop opened its doors this week in Malvern town centre, but the YMCA says it may just be a temporary venture.
The shop opened up on Tuesday morning (February 25) in a Church Street unit that had remained empty since the women's clothes shop Dorothy Perkins closed its doors last summer.
Nicki Elworthy of the YMCA said: "As well as our permanent YMCA shops across England, we often occupies temporary shop units until landlords find suitable long-term tenants, which is the case for this particular shop in Malvern. Sometimes a shop can occupy a temporary space for three months and sometimes it can be much longer. "
Now the YMCA is calling for local people to show their support by donating goods or volunteering.
District retail manager James Preece said: “We are really excited to be opening a new temporary YMCA shop in Malvern. We would like to invite local people to come in and visit us and would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone interested in volunteering or making a donation.”
Anyone interested is urged to contact the YMCA England retail team on 0845 601 0728 or just pop in to the shop.
