Inspirational story of one totally reinvented woman

AN EVESHAM woman is springing into 2007 a new woman after losing a total of 24 stones in 24 months on the Cambridge Diet.

The weightloss is the biggest single amount lost by a person in the diet's history.

Mandy Stinton, aged 43, of Henry Street, reached 38 stone before deciding it was time to do something about her weight.

"I was very close to giving up," she said. "I needed to find something, anything that could help me because at nearly 40 stone all hope was lost."

Mandy was referred to a Cambridge counsellor by health professionals as her weight spiralled out of control after being diagnosed with cancer and depression.

In 2005, weighing 38-and-a-half stone, she started on the diet. On Saturday, December 30, she weighed just 14-and-a-half stone.

"Where do you start?" she said. "It's not like you can just begin eating a little less and exercise a little more. It wasn't as if I had a few extra pounds to lose after a big Christmas lunch. I needed to lose more than 20 stone and to be perfectly honest, I wasn't sure it was possible without some kind of surgery, which if course I couldn't undergo because of my weight."

Mandy went on the Sole Source Programme and essentially for the next two years, consumed around 415 calories a day.

"I didn't think it was possible back at the start of 2005 that my life could change so dramatically in 24 months," she added.

"I am so keen to explain to people who are in the same position today that I was back then that it is possible to do, that they must not give up like I so nearly did. It's not easy and you have ups and downs but even at nearly 40 stone, there is still hope."
