COUNCILLORS voted against plans to site a sub station between the leisure centre in Pershore and the neighbouring youth club building.

At a meeting of the town council in Pershore Cllr Richard Grantham said the wool had been pulled over the eyes of the council as the proposed sub station, being used to power cables for a hydropower project, was a lot larger than they thought it would be.

He said: "It's three metres high, that is huge."

The council voted to say no to the plans, which were set to be part of a future planning application.
