CHILDREN at a pre-school near Evesham were treated to a visit from the fire service as part of a special project.

Youngster from Harvington Nursery and pre-school donned fireman's helmets and had a go at turning on the blue flashing lights when a crew fromHereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service paid them a visit as part of their project, 'People who help us'.

Claire Coates, pre-school committee member, said: "They loved it. They love anything like that. We've had visits from the police as well before but they love fire engines. They had a go turning the flashing lights on."

Meanwhile, the school was given a funding boost at a recent ceremony at the town hall in Evesham on February 12 where staff received a cheque for £212.

The pre-school was given half of the proceeds from the Evesham Round Table Santa Sleigh fundraiser in December after helping with the collection.
