SCHOOL inspectors have found a Sedgeberrow school to be outstanding in all areas.

A recent Ofsted report showed pupils at Sedgeberrow CE First school made excellent progress and left school with high standards across all subjects.

Children joined the school with skills typical for their age but were already showing very good progress by the end of reception with rapid progress in reading, writing and mathematics evident across the school.

Inspectors found by the end of year five nearly all pupils were working at the level expected of pupils a year older with many working at even higher levels.

Pupils of all abilities, including more-able pupils, made outstanding progress while disabled pupils and those with special educational needs did as well as their peers.

The children were said to love books and be good at writing as well as achieve high standards in music.

Teaching was described as outstanding with teachers planning lessons very thoroughly.

Inspectors felt teachers had very high expectations and the pupils enjoyed the challenge of meeting them.

Behaviour in lessons and around school was outstanding and pupils were extremely courteous and considerate while attendance was high.

Inspectors also found the school’s work to keep pupils safe and secure was outstanding.

Leadership and management was also rated as outstanding and had contributed to the school's ongoing improvement.

Checks on teaching quality and the children's progress were very thorough and team work was a key part of the school's ethos.

The governing body had improved significantly since a previous inspection and were rigorous in overseeing the school's finances.

Headteacher Mich?le Humphreys said: “We are absolutely delighted to be given this wonderful recognition for our lovely school and I feel very privileged to

be the headteacher here.

"Sedgeberrow CE First is such a special place – so happy and inspirational - and I couldn’t be prouder of the whole team – children, staff, parents and governors who have worked so hard together.

"We all have our part to play and share the same goals of wanting to provide the best possible education for our children so to have that affirmed publicly means a great deal to us.”
