CELEBRATING the Vale's famous Gras was top of the agenda at a recent meeting of people from across the district discussing this year's asparagus season.

The Evesham Hotel played host to the first planning meeting which saw Shawn Riley from Evesham Market Town Partnership, Nigel Smith landlord of The Fleece Inn at Bretforton and Gus the Asparagus discuss this year’s celebrations.

David Field, general manager at the Evesham Hotel, said: "The asparagus season brings a lot of business to the town and we’re always delighted to be a part of it.

"The meeting was full of great ideas to help celebrate our native vegetable and we’re looking forward to welcoming locals and tourists to events in the town."

Last year saw the first ever AsparaFest take place at Ashdown Farm in Badsey as well as other events in businesses across the Vale.
