DUST of the trainers because Sport Relief is back and Wychavon District Council is urging residents across the district to get running for the charity event.

This year the district's own Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile will take place at Pershore’s Abbey Park on Sunday, March 23.

The run, which will begin at 11am, is set in the Abbey Park grounds and seasoned runners to walkers will be able to chose whether they take on one mile, three miles or six miles.

Mark Williams, sports development officer, said: "The Sport Relief Mile in Pershore is all about getting active and having a laugh at the same time.

"Last time the Pershore Mile had more than 280 participants and raised over £6,500 for the charity, and this year we want even more people to get involved.

"All the money raised will help to change the lives of people living unimaginably tough lives right here on our doorstep, across the rest of the UK and in some the world’s poorest countries. So don’t forget to rope in your mates, family, boyfriend, girlfriend and colleagues too and get them running for Sport Relief."

Before and after the Sport Relief Mile, running from 10am until 2pm, entrants and spectators alike can head for the skate park or children’s play area where there will be a climbing wall, circus skills workshop, face painting, smoothie bike, health MOTs, and hopefully a showcase of sports activities provided by local sports clubs.
