AT the annual general meeting of the Badsey Society a member was awarded for on going service to the community.

This year the Tony Jerram award, named after the first ever chairman of the society, was presented to Terry Sparrow, whose contribution to the community has been enormous.

As a founding member of the Basey Society, he has served as treasurer for ten years and chairman for two.

He has also been responsible for winding the church clock for 52 years and has penned four books, including A Brief History of Badsey and Aldington and Digging for a Living.

Barbara Jerram presented the trophy to Mr Sparrow who said he was extremely honoured to accept the award as Tony Jerram had been a personal friend for whom he had much respect.

The meeting also saw Maureen Spinks re-elected as chairman, Valerie Magan re-elected as secretary and Tony Wood re-elected as treasurer.
