SWEET dreams took on a whole new meaning at a Pershore care home when it was transformed into a pyjama tea party.

Heathlands Residential Care Home in Pershore held its Time for a Cuppa event on Friday in order to raise money for Dementia UK.

Residents and the team paid £1 to dress in their pyjamas, dressing gowns and onesies for the charity from 10.30am until 12.30pm.

There were also lots of games on offer, including pin the cherry on the cake and tea cup bingo.

Anita Fletcher, manager of the Sanctuary Care Home in Station Road, Pershore, said: "Our residents really enjoyed the fun and games and of course the cake.

"There was a fantastic atmosphere and we were thrilled to raise nearly £80 for a very worthwhile cause, supporting people living with dementia and their families."

Time for a Cuppa is Dementia UK’s annual fundraising event, a national day which brings people together to raise money for the provision of Admiral Nurses, mental health nurses who specialise in dementia care.

Amy Cudmore, community fundraiser at Dementia UK, said: "There are an estimated 800,000 people diagnosed with dementia in the UK. This means there is a one in 7000 chance of families affected by dementia having access to an Admiral Nurse Service."
