A BRAVE cancer sufferer had her hair shaved for charity a day before undergoing her first round of chemotherapy.

Diane Wicks, of Alcester Road in Radford, near Inkberrow, chopped of her shoulder length locks on Thursday, March 6, before beginning treatment for breast cancer, which she was diagnosed with in November.

And she has already raised nearly £1,000 for Breast Cancer Care and Macmillan Cancer Support.

"I was looking forward to having my head shaved," said the 65-year-old who works part time for Dudley's Coaches. "And the chemotherapy the next day wasn't as bad as I expected. But I still have five more treatments to go.

"People say the first isn't as bad as the rest. You just have to get on with it. Everyone has been saying that I am brave as someone who has cancer to do something for others who also have it. It has all been very positive."
