AN Evesham charity is hoping people will help drive their fundraising forward by donating an old car as part of a novel fund-raising scheme.

The ExtraCare Charitable Trust, which has been in Evesham High Street for 15 years and enables older people to enjoy healthier, active and more independent lifestyles in communities, has joined the Giveacar scheme.

The unusual fundraising enterprise was set up in January 2010 and sees people donate their old motors for a specific good cause.

With ExtraCare now signed up to Giveacar anyone with an unwanted vehicle can get it collected for free raising some much needed money for the charity.

Even an old banger could raise anything between £40 and 250 for the cause.

Alison Whittingham, managing director of ExtraCare Shops Ltd, said: "This is a great way to get rid of that old problem car at no cost to you, whilst at the same time helping us to provide better lives for older people. It's a win win situation."

ExtraCare in Evesham is also looking for new volunteers and would welcome speaking to anyone interested in helping out.
