TWO friends took on the Silverstone Half Marathon to raise hundreds of pounds for Cancer Research UK.

Seasoned fundraiser Sue Cosnett and friend Sara Coleman, who is expecting a baby in August, completed the challenge on March 2 after months of preparation.

Ms Cosnett often takes part in such events but ran and walked the event with Mrs Coleman, who signed up before she knew she was pregnant.

"It went fab, it was really good," said Ms Cosnett. "Even Sara enjoyed it. She made it all the way round as well. She found it OK, we walked and ran in together. I didn't want to leave her behind.

"I was so proud of her and I raised about £600."

And the running doesn't end there for Ms Cosnett who has entered in the London Marathon in April.

"I will be doing that on my own," said the Pershore resident. "I am looking forward to that. I will be raising money for the British Heart Foundation in memory of my uncle Gerald Cosnett, who died of a heart attack last year."
