A FOOTBALL team is inviting one of its most successful playing squads ever back as the guests of honour for a special reunion night.

The Bretforton Old Boys side of 1964 swept all before them, winning all four trophies they played for that season - the North Cotswold League, Evesham Hospital Cup, the Winchcombe Charity Cup and the Davis Cup.

Now, 50 years on from those triumphs, it is hoped many familiar faces will make an appearance at the reunion night in Bretforton Sports Club at 8.30pm on Saturday, April 12.

All current and former players, supporters, committee members and referees are invited to attend, along with anyone else simply interested in enjoying a night of nostalgia.

Andy Clarke said the 1964 season was a triumphant time for the club.

"'Breath on 'em Bret' was the cry of supporters of Bretforton Old Boys back in the 60s," he said. "Such was the support for local football in those days that the team was cheered on by hundreds of supporters at home games and a coach was hired to take them to away games."

Anyone who recognises themselves in this photo of the 1964 team or is interested in attending is asked to contact Mr Clarke on 07738 857360 or keegan118118@yahoo.co.uk.
