THE Vale of Evesham Camera Club held its highly successful annual national exhibition of digital photography this month with a record number of entries coming in from all over the country.

In total 4,388 images were sent in to enter into four categories, colour, monochrome, natural history and experimental.

The best 891 images were selected for acceptance in the exhibition and were then judged over a two day period by five nationally renowned photographers, John Chamberlin from Bristol, David Gibbins from Nottingham, Peter Preece from Studley, Leigh Preston from Gloucester and Margaret Salisbury from Prestatyn.

The selectors then choose the 75 medal and award winners, which can be viewed alongside the accepted images, online at photo2014.net.

The exhibition also benefited for the first time from a new laptop purchased using a New Homes Bonus Grant from Evesham Town Council, which was awarded last August.

John Kellett, chairman of the exhibition and club secretary, said: "Now in its 16th year, as a national exhibition, it was the first fully digital exhibition in the country, it’s highly regarded throughout the country and really puts Evesham on the photographic map."

The club meets on Monday evening in the Friends Meeting House on Cowl Street in Evesham and new members of all abilities are welcome.
